Hey there! I recently partnered with JCPenney to get fit in the winter for the new year, and it had me thinking how much I loathe working out. Yes, I was that person who went to the gym for first five weeks of the new year at 5 AM and then just stopped.
I realized, after getting older and being a size 0 all of my life (which by the way, I am NOT now) how important it is to be active, at least somewhat! Because trust me, eating carbs and drinking beer on a Friday and Saturday night, will DEFINITELY catch up with you. Because it did with me. So rather than loathe going to the gym constantly, there are some awesome ways to incorporate healthy habits into your life to stay active and healthy all year long.
Drink more water. This is a no brainer but something I struggle with. Do whatever you can to get it done – have a water bottle at your desk, put a lime or lemon in it, keep track in your planner – however you do it, get it done!
Walk, walk walk. This is an easy one. Do you walk your dog? If so, up the pace or go on longer walks. Do you work in a multilevel building? Skip the elevator! A lot of people will take 15 minute breaks at work three times throughout the day and get a walk in! Its so easy to keep track with your phone or fitbit!
Introduce superfoods – collagen, Vitamin C, green tea (or matcha) are all super easy to incorporate into your diet. I drink a collagen + matcha latte every night with soymilk and I am obsessed.
Track your calories in an app – this is something brand new for me but OMG I couldn’t get over how much more I watch what I eat when I hold myself accountable for it! Like, I would easily eat half a bag of chips at one sitting! It’s like 800 empty calories! Now, I restrict my calorie intake every day and track exactly what I am eating! Sure, I splurge here and there – but did you know four beers is almost 1000 calories? It’s crazy when you start tracking it.
Get an accountability partner – my sister and I both decided to start monitoring our calories. Every day, we text each other what we ate or what kind of workout we decided to do! We get together too to workout as well. Having someone in it with you TOTALLY helps!
